California Driver Injured, Passenger Killed at Union Pacific Crossing
(Richvale, California – April 12, 2021)
A California pickup driver was seriously injured and a passenger killed after their truck was struck by a Union Pacific freight train. The collision occurred when the westbound Toyota Tundra was hit by the freight train at the railroad crossing west of Riceton Highway. According to reports, the Union Pacific train involved in the collision was at least 30 mph.
The driver, David Hansen, was taken to Enloe Medical Center by an air ambulance in critical condition. The passenger was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger’s identity is being withheld next of kin notification.
Butte County Fire and Sheriff’s were investigating this collision.
