A Minot, ND-bound Burlington Northern freight train hauling 33 loaded freight cars and 31 empties derailed nine cars at a rural Clay County site 10 miles south of Moorhead, MN Saturday afternoon about 1:30 P.M.
The train, which originated in Minneapolis, MN, blocked access across 100th Avenue South, a main thoroughfare in the area. BNSF Public Relations Representative Amy McBeth gave the usual explanation: “the cause of the accident is not known, but is being investigated.”
