Arkansas Woman Killed At Non-Gated BNSF Crossing

(Jonesboro, Arkansas — April 21, 2012)

A 54-year old Jonesboro, AR resident, Roberta Bratcher, died at the scene of the intersection of Henson Road and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks Saturday morning about 11:00 A.M. when her pickup truck was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound BNSF freight train.
The Henson Road/BNSF crossing is equipped with bells and flashing lights, which police alleged were functioning, but no crossing gate to protect the driving public from oncoming trains.
The tragedy marked the fifth collision and the second death at that particular crossing, where an additional half dozen people have received injuries.
