A man described by police as “white and in his 20’s” died Tuesday afternoon at about 3:15 P.M., CDT when he was struck from behind by a northbound Union Pacific freight train consisting of two locomotives pulling 74 cars carrying new automobiles from Arlington, TX to Chicago, IL along UPRR tracks parallel to Frontage Road near IH 30 and South University Avenue in southwest Little Rock, AR.
The unfenced rail corridor accommodates as many as 40 trains daily at a top allowable speed of 75 mph.
Little Rock Police Dept. Lt. Sidney Allen told Shea Stewart of The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
