Another Utah Transit Authority Pedestrian Death Chalked Up To Lack Of Signal
(Midvale, Utah – August 10, 2011)
The Utah Transportation Authority recorded its fourth pedestrian accident and third fatality thus far this year Wednesday afternoon about 12:30 P.M. when a female pedestrian in her 40’s was struck and killed by a UTA “TRAX” light rail train at the crossing of UTA tracks and Union Boulevard (7200 South) in Midvale, UT. Although the crossing has lights and gates to regulate auto traffic, there is neither an auto or pedestrian crossing arm to protect westbound pedestrian or vehicular crossings of the UTA tracks.
