Amtrak Train Injures Missouri Motorist at Dangerous, Unprotected Crossing
(Kingsville, Missouri – August 23, 2011)
An unidentified person was injured Tuesday night at 8:37 P.M. when the victim was attempting to cross Union Pacific Railroad tracks at the dangerous, unguarded crossing of County Road 1601 just east of Kingsville, MO and was struck by Amtrak train #313 which was hauling 48 passengers bound for Kansas City, MO.
Only standard, passive railroad crossbuck signs mark the crossing, with no presence of electronic (lights, bells or gates) protective devices. The victim, the extent of whose injuries were not released, was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. UPRR tracks parallel Missouri 58 Highway at the location of the accident
