Motorist Killed by BNSF Train at Dangerous, Unguarded Crossing

(Bonner County, Idaho -- December 31, 2013)

A dangerous and unguarded BNSF railroad crossing between the communities of Sagle and Sand Point in Bonner County, ID was the site of its third accident at about 4:22 P.M. Tuesday afternoon when a collision between a BNSF freight train travelling at a speed of 59 mph from Portland, OR to Chicago, IL and a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Kaitlin Brosh claimed the life of the female motorist.

Four Injured as Union Pacific Train Runs into Standing BNSF Train

Investigators from both railroads and numerous public agencies were trying to determine why a Union Pacific freight train ran into the rear of a standing BNSF coal train Monday morning at about 6:40 A.M. in the small city of Keithville, Louisiana a few miles south of Shreveport, LA, resulting in injuries to four UPRR employees aboard the locomotives of the second train.

Pedestrian Injured by Norfolk Southern Train at Closed Crossing

An as-yet unidentified 15-year-old boy who was attempting to cross Norfolk Southern railroad tracks with two friends at a crossing closed to vehicular traffic in Elkhart, IN Friday night at about 10:45 P.M. was recovering in a South Bend, IN hospital after being struck by one of the daily average of 53 trains that pass through the corridor at a top speed of 79 mph.

BNSF Train Strikes and Kills Grain Elevator Customer

A grain elevator customer died at about 12:30 P.M. Thursday afternoon when he was struck by an eastbound  BNSF freight train at the elevator near the intersection of FM 2161 and U.S. Highway 60 west of Panhandle, TX.
