Alabama Motorist Killed at Dangerous, Unguarded Norfolk Southern Crossing

A 46-year-old resident of Cherokee, AL, Derris Lemone Cortner, was killed Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 P.M., EDT, when his southbound pickup truck was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train.  The tragedy occurred at the dangerous and unguarded railroad crossing of Norfolk Southern rails and Red Rock Road near Barton, AL. 

Auburn Freshman Killed by CSX Train in Busy Entertainment District

Auburn, AL Police Dept. Captain Lorenza Dorsey said authorities had no suspicion of alcohol or drugs playing any part of the tragic train-related death of a popular Auburn University freshman student early Saturday morning in an area of the university city frequented by college students.

Alabama Motorist Killed at Non-Gated CSX Crossing

A 62-year-old female resident of Shorter, AL became the second person to die at the gateless CSX railroad grade crossing of Wares Ferry Road. The driver was killed in a collision last Tuesday, evening, 6:32 P.M. when her 2006 Kia Optima was struck by a CSX freight train. This is the fifth accident to occur at that crossing.

Two People Injured at Dangerous, Unguarded Norfolk Southern Crossing

A mother and her daughter-in-law were seriously injured after their vehicle was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train at the dangerous and unguarded crossing of Liberty Township Road 55 (Van Atta Road). The train was travelling on the rails of a Genesee & Wyoming subsidiary in the Hardin County, OH community of Ada Wednesday morning at about 7:10 A.M., EDT
