Two Seriously Injured in Kentucky at Notorious, Deadly, and Non-Gated Norfolk Southern Crossing

A non-gated and clearly dangerous Norfolk Southern grade crossing in Kentucky was again the scene of a near-fatal crash Monday afternoon about 2:55 P.M.  The crossing was the site of a triple-fatality accident in March of this year and which had been approved for the addition of gates to the existing flashing lights prior to the earlier tragedy.

Ohio Teen on Bicycle Killed by Hidden, Second Norfolk Southern Train

A 15-year-old boy who lived on the same Huron, OH road as a Norfolk Southern railroad crossing and just a quarter-mile away from his home was killed early Friday afternoon at about 1:30 P.M., EDT when he waited for the passage of one train and then peddled into the path of a second train.

North Dakota Man Killed at Dangerous, Unguarded BNSF Crossing

A local man on his way to a rural residence about six miles east of Bowman, ND was struck and killed as he attempted to drive his 2010 Dodge Caravan minivan across Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks at the dangerous and unguarded crossing of 139th Avenue, SW about 1:40 P.M. Thursday afternoon. His northbound vehicle was struck by an eastbound BNSF freight train.

Rear-End Norfolk Sothern Collision in Virginia Demonstrates Need for PTC

A rear-end collision between two westbound Norfolk Southern freight trains Tuesday afternoon at about 4:00 P.M. was still under investigation by railroad officials Wednesday. But regardless of excuse, it was another case of an accident that could have been prevented had the Congressionally-mandated Positive Train Control System been operational.

Kentucky Child Seriously Injured by CSX Train in Unfenced Area Near Overpass

A 7-year-old child lay in the intensive care unit of Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center as doctors tried to save the boy’s foot after it was run over by the wheels of a CSX freight train in the Kentucky-side Cincinnati suburb of Covington Tuesday evening about 8:27 P.M.

Michigan Motorist Collides with CSX Train at Dangerous, Unguarded Crossing

In the pre-dawn darkness of Monday morning, a motorist attempting to drive his minivan across CSX railroad tracks at the dangerous and unguarded intersection of Darby Road just outside of Clarksville, MI collided with one of the tank cars seemingly lacking any reflective striping.  Post-accident news media pictured a string of unmarked oil tank cars stopped on the unguarded crossing.

Beloved Arkansas Grandmother and Community Leader Killed at Dangerous, Unguarded Union Pacific Crossing

A well-known and long-time resident died just a few minutes before noon Friday morning as she drove her 2009 Toyota westbound across a dangerous and unguarded Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Ashley County, AR Road 53 (Gay Lane) and was struck and killed by a UPRR freight train.
