Family of Four Seriously Injured at Dangerous, Non-Gated Canadian National Crossing

(Alta, Iowa – February 13, 2014)

A family of four, including two young children, ages four and two, had to be cut out of their automobile by first responders after it was struck by a Canadian National freight train at the crossing of CNR tracks and South Main Street in Alta, IA Thursday afternoon about 4:22 P.M.

Truck Carrying Crane Hung Up on Arkansas Crossing Hit by Union Pacific Train

(Beebe, Arkansas – February 10, 2014)

A low-clearance semi-trailer hauling a construction crane were both virtually destroyed Monday morning about 10:30 A.M. after the 18-wheeler became hung up on the crossing surface of Cypress Street where it crosses Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Beebe, AR, and was hit by a train.

Houston TV Station Investigatory Team Targets Lack of Crossing Safety

Discovering that Texas has more railroad grade crossing accidents than any other state, and that Harris County suffers more train/highway vehicle crashes than any other Texas county, Houston’s KHOU-TV, Channel 11 sent its News I-Team after railroad and state officials to determine why more emphasis is not being focused upon railroad crossing safety improvement in Texas’ largest city.

Pedestrian Killed Crossing Snow Blocked Canadian National Crossing

(Ladysmith, Wisconsin – February 11, 2014)

A 28-year-old local resident died following his unsuccessful attempt to cross Canadian National Railroad tracks at the Miner Street crossing in Ladysmith, WI Tuesday at about 11:57 A.M.  Jacob L. Lebal was walking east on Miner Street when the southbound CNR freight train hit him at 47 mph.
