Georgia Motorist Escapes Death at Dangerous, Unguarded Norfolk Southern Crossing

Rain and a train both possibly contributed to a near-fatal accident last Tuesday morning at about 6:45 A.M., EDT, when a woman driving west toward U.S. Highway 19 on Oakhill Dairy Road was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train at the dangerous, unguarded crossing of NS railroad tracks and Oakhill Dairy Road (CR 151) just north of Leesburg, GA.

A 55-year-old semi-trailer truck driver from Show Low, AZ lost his life Thursday afternoon at about 3:20 P.M. when his truck was struck by a northeast-bound freight train, dragged the length of three football fields, and exploded into flames as it was eastbound on 65th Street Northwest, north of Ray, ND, at the dangerous and unguarded railroad crossing of BNSF Railway tracks.

 Sperry, OK woman died from injuries she received Thursday night about 8:00 P.M. when she exited her Chevrolet Blazer, which had become stuck on the narrow, slightly humped private crossing near the intersection of 193rd East Avenue and Tiger Switch Road east of Catoosa, OK, only to have the vehicle knocked into her by an eastbound BNSF freight train as she stood away from the tracks and crossing.

California Driver Injured by Amtrak Train at Dangerous, Unguarded Union Pacific Crossing

An agricultural contractor, attempting to cross Union Pacific Railroad tracks at the dangerous and unguarded crossing of a farm access road leading to a Guadalupe, CA-area celery field miraculously suffered non-life threatening injuries when his pickup truck was split in half by a northbound Amtrak passenger train traveling at 60 mph with 250 passengers on board Monday afternoon at about 3:02 P.M., PDT.

A 52-year-old driving an 18-wheeler was sent to Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, ID after her Peterbilt tractor and trailer were struck and heavily damaged by an Eastern Idaho Railroad freight train at the dangerous and unguarded crossing of 200 North near Sugar City, ID Monday afternoon about 5:00 P.M.

The lack of any form of active crossing protective devices at a railroad crossing in the small east central Texas of Iola had plenty to do with an accident which brought injury to a local female motorist Wednesday when she tried to cross BNSF railroad tracks at the dangerous, unguarded, and elevated crossing of Grimes County Road 122.

Louisiana Driver Killed at Dangerous, Unguarded Kansas City Southern Crossing

The lack of any active crossing warning system was once again a factor as a 66-year-old Louisiana motorist lost his life at the dangerous and unguarded Kansas City Southern Grant Parish railroad crossing on the southern edge of Colfax, LA Wednesday afternoon at about 3:24 P.M., CDT.
